Valuing and Leveraging Diversity

This workshop provides tools and awareness about key issues related to an increasingly diverse workforce. This workshop uses a series of video case studies, which provide an opportunity to analyze real-life situations, discuss them, and then watch as employees handle them effectively.

Objectives

  • Know how to avoid terms that may be offensive to racial, religious, and national origin groups.
  • Understand why certain jokes, which may be defined as friendly bantering, cross the line.
  • Understand issues related to speaking languages other than English at work.
  • Know how to work in multi-generational work groups.
  • Know the difference between EEO, Affirmative Action, and valuing diversity.
  • Recognize diversity issues when they occur.
  • Know how to talk about and resolve issues related to workplace diversity.

Leading Across Generations

Managers learn how to use a communication tool (M.E.E.T. ™) to recognize, respond to, and resolve day-to-day workplace conflicts and confusion that may arise in a multi-generational workplace. Managers will learn how to manage in the new dynamics of the workplace, a result of four different generations working together. This workshop uses a series of video case studies, which provide an opportunity to analyze real-life situations, discuss them, and then watch how supervisors handle them.

Objectives

  • Be familiar with the characteristics of the four generations in the workforce.
  • Recognize situations that are affected by generational differences.
  • Learn practical tips for managing successfully in a multigenerational workplace.
  • Use the M.E.E.T.™ approach to manage effectively and build a respect-filled workplace.
